Dinosaurs! A Jurassic Journey

May 26 through September 3, 2018

Sendik's Food Markets

The Milwaukee County Zoo will travel back to the Jurassic period this summer with the exhibit, “Dinosaurs! A Jurassic Journey,” sponsored by Sendik’s Food Markets. Guests can interact with life-size replicas of their favorite dinosaurs in this outdoor exhibit. Watch as these dinosaurs hatch to life this summer, May 26 through September 3.

Over 20 robotic creatures will be featured in a tropical, lush outdoor exhibit at the Zoo. Each lifelike dinosaur has character and appeal, making the exhibit engaging and interactive for visitors, as there’s something about dinosaurs that continues to fascinate people of all ages.? It could be their enormous size, their unique, and sometimes mysterious, features or the question of what happened to them millions of years ago.

Returning dinosaurs from past years include the Tyrannosaurus rex, one of the most popular and largest dinosaurs that ever lived, and the Dilophosaurus, known for the semi-circular plates that grew on its head. The Brachiosaurus, one of the tallest and largest known dinosaurs, will also make an appearance in the exhibit.

Constructed by the Billings Productions facility in Texas, the dinosaurs are individually created by a team of designers, engineers, sculptures and artists to accurately depict and bring to life these formidable creatures.? Each dinosaur is equipped with an electronic brain, controlling movement and sound, and every year new technology is used to breathe life into the beasts.

Numerous new dinosaurs will join the group at the Zoo, including the Elaphrosaurus, a fast, bipedal dinosaur with a long neck, and Suchomimus, a Spinosauriddinosaur that lived in East Africa and known for its big claws and long jaws.

Additional new dinosaurs include:

  • Amargasaurus and Baby
  • Iguanodon
  • Iguanodon Nest
  • Pachyrhinosaurus (Photo-Op)
  • Quetzalcoatlus
  • Sarchosuchus
  • Utahraptor

“Dinosaurs! A Jurassic Journey,” sponsored by Sendik’s Food Markets, is open daily,
9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and located in the outdoor habitat behind the Small Mammals Building. Admission is $3 per person, after regular Zoo admission.
